NY to CA day 5 - The side of I-70. I'd been excited about going through the desert for weeks. Even before I'd made the decision to move back to CA I'd had dreams about driving through the desert alone so finally coming down into this from out of the Rockies was a bit surreal. The sky and the mountains and a ground covered in all kinds of plants I'd never seen before was so overwhelming that I just had to stop here and look around, even if it was just the side of the road on a major interstate. Also, I had to pee.

NY to CA day 4 - Another of the Great Plains, somewhere in Kansas or Colorado. See the telephone poles?

NY to CA day 3 - Kansas City still. Weeds in the lot on which the building from the previous post sits. The place was teeming with grasshoppers.
