NY to CA day 5 - The side of I-70. I'd been excited about going through the desert for weeks. Even before I'd made the decision to move back to CA I'd had dreams about driving through the desert alone so finally coming down into this from out of the Rockies was a bit surreal. The sky and the mountains and a ground covered in all kinds of plants I'd never seen before was so overwhelming that I just had to stop here and look around, even if it was just the side of the road on a major interstate. Also, I had to pee.

NY to CA day 3 - Dilapidated buildings in Kansas City near 18th and Vine. This area used to be the center of the Jazz scene in KC, but as I passed through seemed to be a lot of run-down buildings and not much going down on a Saturday evening.
